New Balance Aquathlon (1.5K Swim, 10K Run)
The day starts with anxiety. The anxious feeling is different from the usual pre-race feeling I have such as the OSIM and NUS Triathlon. Since I am not aiming for breaking my personal best today and I know the distance is not a problem that I can't manage. I am more concerned whether the knee injury I picked up during last week's New Balance Real Run has recovered or will it cause more problem today, next week's Army Half Marathon, next next week's BIG EVENT - The Desaru Half Ironman and the Powerman - Putrajaya on Sep-28.
The 1.5K swim leg felt longer than it should be .. I took 45min to complete..althou this is my 1.5K timing in a pool.. I expected a slightly faster timing in the calm open sea due to the buoyancy.
Came out from transition area. Munn and Sam were there to cheer me on.. WOW. felt good... Especially when Munn told me he would join me for the 2nd 5K loop.
The first 500M didn’t feel right. Speed normal but heartbeat quite fast... so I dropped gear and felt better. Althou both knee areas felt tight, I didn’t feel any pain so I said "ok.. So far so good..." but dare not go faster.
Along the way, exchanged High-5 with fellow TriFam members on the opposite lane. Reeves, Edkor, Jerry, Enrico, SmallCircle and many more ... all looked pretty comfortable and cheerful!!!
Munn joined and paced me on the 2nd loop. by now, I guess not much energy left.. So a bit of struggling... I would go even slower if not for Munn's pacing. Anyway, very thankful and appreciative to Munn for jogging alongside me... It is very touching and memorable.
About 10+ Trifam members proceeded to Thaksin Beef Noodle after the race, I heard this is a regular place to meet and eat whenever TriFam has training at Sentosa!!!!! I must say it is worth the try. Hmmm.....heard they are opening up a new outlet at Tampines (near my work place).
